September 15, 2006 - Results of FP3 from Phillips Island
Current mood.... STUPIFIED!!!! Carlos Checa... where the hell
did you come from?!?! What an impressive turn out for Tech 3 Yamaha at this morning's 3rd practice session. Although
the times weren't consistant, he certainly found the speed somewhere to lay down a fantastic lap time and shoot
to the top of the results chart. He was proceeded directly by Hayden and Capirossi. I am not surprised to see Loris
at the top of the heap, and I have a warm and fuzzy feeling for Nicky.. looks like he might be getting back in
the game.
Camel Yamaha was having some obvious problems with sticking to the track yesterday.. today, not so much. Edwards
and Rossi both maintained top 5 times for the majority of the session. When the timer ran out, Valentino was in
5th and Edwards was right up there in 7th.
Another notable finish was Toni Elias with Fortuna Honda... he wound up 4th. Didn't see that one coming :) I have
much respect for the team, I am just much more used to seeing the #33 machine of Melandri's running up front(ish).
Randy... < Sigh > .... He settled back into his usual pace and finished 11th today. We all saw what you were
capable of yesterday de P.... make me proud :) I was so overwhelmed by the unexpected practice victory, that I
unleashed a tourettes-like outburst at my computer screen. The cabin pressure dropped as the cats exited the room
at roughly Mach 5...... there was a vaccuum created that sucked many-a-paper off my desk. They are used to such
antics on race day, but they clearly did not see that coming.
There you have it, my half-hearted breakdown of the morning's events. Qualifying is at midnight (my time) and I'll
be here with cheap, tasty beer in hand, watching intently.....
*Sidenote* When the phone rings, and your "Hello?" is met with the following question:
"Hey Frit, what is it called when those Samurai guys kill themselves with a sword?"
a few things go through your mind.. 1) How did you know I knew the answer to that?? Nothing about me screams bushido
code expert... or does it? 2) Why are you asking me this?? Cause apparently I have missed out on yet another spectacular,
alcohol-induced conversation....
Then, the answer.....
Steve...
nuff said.
HA!! Love ya Steve!!! I'll do my best to break away tomorrow for the trip to Seven Bridges, and the poker run on
Sunday sounds like fun too... I should probably go and Febreze my helmet now....
Until next time......
Rubb'er Down :)
