November 25 , 2006 - Holiday weekend

Not much news from the MotoGP paddocks this weekend, but we did manage to round up a local herd for a nice ride down to St. Augustine Friday morning. Shortly after my arrival at Spaz's, we were 5-strong....

Gathering of the herd

Steve rolled in a few minutes later.... and then there were 6. Shortly thereafter, we heard the finely tuned growl of Mark's Busa followed by the sighting.... parading down Tanya Terrace airing out the front tire. There's your 12 O'clock wheelie Mike.... that'll put some beans on your big ole plate of disappointment. Susan rode in right behind her man Mark.... and then we were 8....

The gathered herd

We left Spaz's and headed south for a medium-paced ride to lunch, where we waited endlessly for a table.... endlessly(er) for our lunch and then endlessly(est) for Tom, who was out signing papers on this beast....

Tom's Triumph

He finally arrived and we headed north.. now 9 strong... to meet rider #10. Spaz and Heather and I splintered off and headed back to "The Terrace" to welcome Jim (YAY!) who drove all the way from Colorado. We then proceeded to thoroughly abuse him by dragging his Aprilia off the truck and subjecting him to even more riding :)

From there we headed to the Mandarin Cigar Shop and met back up with the group to have a few drinks, inspect the bikes, and support our local vagabonds (you guys are such givers.... me thinks he took his bounty straight to the liquor store).

We eventually evacuated Mandarin Cigar and took a relatively quick jaunt down the moderately twisty Mandarin Road back to San Jose/ Race Track Rd. where Sue and Steve left us for home, and Jim and I continued on to take the long way around back to "The Terrace".

Then there was dinner, more drinks, and yapping until late. The Rocky Mountain V Twin was loaded back up in preparation for Jim's drive home Saturday morning.... which he is in the midst of right now. I don't know how you do it Jimmy... you're a machine!

Tomorrow morning (Sunday) there is yet another asphalt frolic planned. The SV got a much-needed oil change today, and a good bath/detailing, so she is all ready to go..... now if only I can drag myself out of bed to get there.....

Until next time......

Rubb'er Down :)
