The race was all about 2nd place today. My cats deemed me psychotic somewhere around lap 12, and left the area in a hurried manner. I found them under the bed, trembling and bug-eyed after the race. Dani Pedrosa ran a fantastic race... he had the lead in the bag early on and left the rest of the pack to fight it out for the remaining podium spots. Congratulations Dani.... way to win one for the team! Nicky.... a valiant effort, but not quite enough to be in the mix.
Valentino Rossi... need I say more?? You could almost hear his brass clanking on the tank as he switched left to right, knee to knee, turbo-jockying that big, yellow Yam into a 2nd place finish after a fourth row start. You are all man Vale. We get it... I got it.... welcome back.
Aside from the "circus" that was the fight for the podium between Rossi, Melandri, Stoner and Roberts, Jr., it was a fairly uneventful race. Pedrosa got a little squirrely a couple of times, late on the brakes... went wide, but obviously it had little to no effect on him. Shinya Nikano's Kawi took a crap about mid-way through the race. Randy... oh, Randy. I had such high hopes for you today. You hung in there. I would have loved to have seen at least a group 2 finish, but, alas, it wasn't meant to be. Here are the final standings:
