July 1, 2006 - Qualifying round at Donington

The boys ran qualifying today for Donington. What an interesting outcome. It seems the Camel Yamaha team is struggling with their bike set-ups. Colin Edwards stated that the bikes just weren't working as well as they did last weekend.... not for lack of trying though. Edwards and Rossi will start from the fourth row tomorrow, as will Nicky Hayden.... now there's a fourth row line-up I didn't expect to see.

I am absolutely stoked about Randy de Puniet's starting position. He did fantastically in qualifying and sits 6th. I don't think he gets enough credit for his MotoGP performances....he took the 250cc class last year at Donington, maybe tomorrow will be his day to shine again. I have my fingers, toes and everything else crossed for you Randy!!

Here's the results of the qualifying round:

1 D. Pedrosa Honda ESP 1' 27.676
2 C. Vermeulen Suzuki AUS 1' 28.158
3 M. Melandri Honda ITA 1' 28.205
4 J. Hopkins Suzuki USA 1' 28.252
5 L. Capirossi Ducati ITA 1' 28.394
6 R. De Puniet Kawasaki FRA 1' 28.428
7 S. Nakano Kawasaki JPN 1' 28.431
8 C. Stoner Honda AUS 1' 28.447

14 M. Tamada Honda JPN 1' 29.362
15 A. Hofmann Ducati GER 1' 29.479
16 J. Ellison Yamaha GBR 1' 30.382

It will be an interesting race to say the very least. Rossi and Capirossi are both riding with injuries.... Rossi's are more recent, but I would venture to guess that Loris is not 100% just yet. Best of luck to all you!! I'll be watching :)

Until next time......

Rubb'er Down :)
