British rider, James Toseland did not run up the ranks of the usual 125, 250 and 500cc World Championships. Instead, he worked his way up the ranks in the UK domestic scene with the 125's, the British Supersport , European Championship and World Supersport series.
In 2000, James competed in the British Superbike Championship, and went on to become well recognized in the World Superbike circle, winning the title twice before joining MotoGP in 2008. His premier race in MotoGP found him finishing 6th, which would be his best-finishing position all season, finally landing in 11th overall at the end of the year.
Obviously a world-class rider, still adapting to the MotoGP circuits and steep level of competitors, Toseland renewed his contract androde with Monster Yamaha Tech 3 throughout the 2009 season. Toseland will return to SBK in 2010 and his Tech 3 machine will be taken over by former AMA superstar Ben Spies.
