At the age of 5, Hiroshi Aoyama visited the track for a Pocket Bike race - and so began the journey to becoming a world-class sportbike racer.
After winning the Japanese National title in the 250cc class in 2003 and making several Wild Card appearances, Hiro joined the Telefonica Movistar Team full time for the 2004 season - finishing 6th overall.
In 2006, Aoyama signed on with the Red Bull KTM team and continued his success, earning a premier victory for KTM in the quarter liter class with his win in Turkey. He remained with KTM throughout the 2007 and 2008 seasons, riding alongside Mika Kallio. The 2008 season came to a close with Aoyama securing only 2 second place podiums and a seventh overall finish.
In 2009, Hiroshi signed on with the Scot Racing Team. He smacked down a spectacular season for the Honda outfit, with four wins and a total of seven podiums, ultimatey beating the 2008 Champion, Marco Simoncelli, for the 2009 250cc Championship title.
2010 saw Aoyama still with Honda, graduating to the Premier Class, riding for Interwetten Honda. His rival, Marco Simoncelli also joined Aoyama with a step-up to MotoGP - he rode for San Carlo Honda Gresini. 2011 finds Aoyama and Simoncelli riding as a team for Honda Gresini.
