American rider, Colin Edwards began his road racing career at the age of 16. He was absolutely unstopable, winning every event he competed in, and earning a record thirteen national titles.
In 1992 he turned pro, winning the AMA 250cc title, spent two more years in AMA Superbike before graduating to WSB with factory Yamaha. He returned to the superbike scene with Honda in 1997 and went on to win the Championship title twice - in 2000 and 2002.
Edwards made his MotoGP debut with Aprilia in 2003 which proved not to be a banner year for him and his sub-par machine. In 2004, he returned to Honda and secured a fifth place standing by season's end. Following his short stint with Honda, Colin became an officical rider for Yamaha alongside Italian rider, Valentino Rossi. He ended his inaugural season with Yamaha in fourth - his best result to date in MotoGP.
2009 found Edwards still riding for Yamaha with their satellite team, Monster Tech 3, along with MotoGP rookie James Toseland. His set of front row starts and podium finishes in 2008 have proven that Colin still has what it takes to run in the Premier class, and his brilliant 5th place finish in the final World Championship standings backed it up.
Edwards rides again for Tech 3 Yamaha in 2011 with new rookie teammate Cal Crutchlow.
