August 19, 2006 - Part I - Results of FP3 at Brno
A fantastic practice session indeed! Loris Capirossi dominated
most of the session, getting the boot a couple of times from Rossi, Hayden and Melandri. In the last ten minutes,
Rossi found his way to the top, putting away lap after lap, each one a couple of tenths faster than the last. Nicky
Hayden came out of the box shortly after and dropped the hammer on the Honda to find himself leading the time board.
Positions were jockeyed, times were swapped, the lead was given and taken... and then.... THEN.... out of the shadows,
rode Loris Capirossi on his magnificent Ducati... like a slow motion movie trailer. I don't know what happened
between him and his bullet during their last visit to the paddock..... but, whatever it was, it was all that is
good! He came out of the box as one with the Duc and laid down a seering time that landed him at the top of the
board.... where he stayed.
Marco Melandri who didn't do much yesterday, and remained in the wings for the most part this morning clocked in
in second position. Rossi held an admirable third, and Nicky ended up in 6th, preceeded by Pedrosa and Edwards.
I may have been spot-on with my Randy prediction yesterday. He was more consistent with his times today, and ended
up 12th overall.... which is more the "norm" for him. BUT... I will be cheering him on later this morning
through his qualifying session and behind him all the way for the race tomorrow. I am a Randy fan!!!
