The 1990 Honda CBR600F again maintained the same basic design as it's 87-89 models, however the "new" CBR600 boasted a 10HP increase - not because Honda needed to, but because Honda could.
The Honda CBR600F was the first 600cc production bike that could run under 11 seconds in the quarter mile, it weighed 20 pounds less and produced 10 more horsepower than it's closest competitor.
For the first three years of production, the CBR600F saw almost zero competition from the 600cc class of sportbikes. Honda effectively out-sold the Kawasaki Ninja and the Suzuki Katana, which is exactly what they set out to do.

The original Honda CBR600F concept, known as the Honda Hurricane through 1987 and 1988, was the platform of today's Honda CBR line. The line has certainly improved over the years but one thing remains the same - Honda has consistently produced high performance, well-bred and affordable sportbikes - and it all started with the Hurricane.
